Cap

Conical, then convex to flattened with a central bump, centre scaly, ochraceous to rusty brown, margin decorated with velar remnants, yellow brown, to about 60 mm across

Free, edge irregular, finely serrated, white then cream

Cylindrical, base slightly broader, whitish with ochraceous brown scales

On soil in deciduous woods especially on humus rich soil and with nettles

Microscopic Features

Spores bullet shaped, smooth, dextrinoid (7-10) x (3-4) µm2. Gill edge cystidia clavate to utriform. Cuticle hyphae erect, septate, each cell sausage shaped and filled with brown pigment, septa clamped.

Edibility

Very poisonous, potentially deadly
